Perkasie, PA - On Saturday, April 29th, members of the Blooming Glen Contractors, Inc. (BGC)/Blooming Glen Quarry (BGQ) Adopt-A-Highway Team celebrated their 20th year of beautifying a two-mile stretch of Minsi Trail between SR 113 and Rickert Road in Hilltown Township, Bucks County, PA.
The BGC/BGQ Adopt-A-Highway Team, led by Dan Alderfer, of H&K Group, Inc.'s Fleet Maintenance Group, collected and disposed of 28 bags of trash and other debris in 2.5 hours. Included in the clean-up effort were Dan, Al Albrecht, Joe Meyers, Allison Morgan, Taylor Vandergrift, Skip Morgan, John Leftler, Justin Thomas, Brett Thomas and four other helpers (all pictured below).
The upkeep of the region’s roadways is directly related to the services BGC provides. As a regional leader in the heavy civil construction sector since 1971, we proudly lay the framework that keeps our region expanding and moving with the completion of projects ranging from interstate roadway systems to international airports. The Adopt-A-Highway program saves taxpayers millions of dollars in cleanup costs and allows the state government to allocate transportation funds to other projects.
BGC currently maintains certifications and is pre-qualified by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Pennsylvania & New Jersey Turnpike Commissions. BGC’s participation in the Adopt-A-Highway program also highlights the value placed on volunteerism in the communities we serve. Not only does our business operate within Bucks County, but many of our employees and their families are Bucks County citizens. Litter is not just unsightly for the residents of our community; it also poses a threat to animals that may ingest it, which harms the natural ecosystem.
