Perkasie, PA - On Friday, August 18, 2017, Blooming Glen Contractors, Inc.’s (BGC’s) Water & Wastewater Services (WWS) Team received hands-on technical training conducted by the professionals from Weld-On®, global leader in the manufacture and supply of solvent cement, cleaners and primers for PVC, CPVC and ABS plastic pipes, valves and fittings. This on-site seminar was held in BGC’s newest WWS location, a recently renovated shop and office facility located in Skippack, PA. BGC office and technical staff were educated on solvent welding of plastic pipe and fittings.
The WWS staff reviewed the specifications of American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) D2855, the standard practice for the two-step (primer and solvent cement) method of joining PVC or CPVC pipe and piping components with tapered sockets. Weld-On discussed how to select the right solvent and cement for the job, the solvent safety precautions that follow, and the primary causes of joint failure. The presence of Weld-On, manufacturer of and expert on the primers and solvents utilized in this process, provided BGC with invaluable knowledge and expertise. Safety is always at the forefront of the BGC WWS Team’s mind; adherence to all ASTM standard practices is emphasized on every project.
